Just like the outdoors often needs a deep cleaning from Mother Nature to get pollen and other allergens under control, your home needs a spring cleaning as well. Use spring cleaning to get rid of the dust and other dirt and debris that has built up in your home over the winter.

Spring Cleaning Tips
It can get overwhelming when you’re trying to clean your entire home. If you want to make things easier and less overwhelming, there are some steps you can take to maximize your efforts.
- Make a schedule
- Do one room at a time (and don’t move on until you finish)
- Declutter first
- Clean top to bottom, left to right
- Consider a steam cleaner
- Use a HEPA vacuum
- Don’t forget about the air (replace filters in your furnace and air conditioner)
Cleaning Checklist
Before you get started, have a plan. Don’t just go into a room and start cleaning with no plan. This is how you miss things and end up making more work for yourself.
Kitchen
- Remove expired or unwanted food from the pantry and refrigerator
- Clean the refrigerator (including shelves and drawers)
- Declutter cabinets and drawers
- Vacuum cabinets and drawers
- Dust/vacuum tops of cabinets
- Wipe down walls and counters
- Clean oven, stovetop, and microwave
- Wipe down cabinets and drawers
Bathrooms
- Vacuum everything first so you aren’t moving around dirt and hair
- Declutter cabinets, drawers, and any closets in the bathrooms
- Clean mirrors, counters, and light fixtures
- Scrub shower and tub tile and walls
- Clean shower glass
- Wash or replace the shower curtain
- Wash all bath mats and hanging towels
- Clean around and in the toilet
- Wipe walls
Bedrooms
- Dust ceiling fan
- Wash sheets
- Vacuum mattress
- Wash pillows and bedroom linens (including curtains if they can be washed)
- Declutter closets
- Dust all surfaces
- Clean off clutter from nightstands, dressers, etc.
Floors
- Vacuum carpet
- Clean carpets with a steam cleaner
- Vacuum hard surfaces
- Mop hard surfaces
- Wipe baseboards
Living Room
- Dust
- Clean TV to remove fingerprints
- Vacuum couch, including under the cushions
- Steam clean couch and other soft furniture
- Clean fireplace if you have one
All Rooms
- Clean windows, sills, and screens
- Wipe all walls
- Clean all linens, such as curtains, throw pillows, etc.
- Dust blinds
- Replace air filters and vacuum vents
- Declutter
